David Beckham, a legend in football like Michael Jordan in basketball, was known for his curve balls in soccer. Remember back to those days where we see Beckham taking a corner kick, and we just waited in anticipation, wondering if he’s going to show us his legendary banana kick that seems to defy the law of physics and curve it’s way past the goalie’s hands and into the net?
Well, when we came across this video of Faiz Subri insane free kick in the match between Penang and Pahang FC, we couldn’t help but want to share it with you.
Whether it’s a lucky shot or just plain skills, this free kick might just make it into the hall of fame, because no way in hell can this happen. But it did. Oh, it did so beautifully.
He took the free kick from the left side of the goalposts. He kicked the ball and it flew towards the left. For a split moment, we thought he screwed up because the ball seems to be going nowhere near the goalpost. Then it started to curve.
And when it curved, it’s arc continued past what is thought to be possible, hit the top right hand corner of the goal post and ricochet into the net. Watch the video below and it’s various replays to see what we saw.
If the goalkeeper could save that, he might possibly be elevated into the rank of the No. 1 goalkeeper in the world. But he couldn’t, so we’ll remain satisfied with the kick that just seems so impossible.
We’ve seen the video, and we went to look at the comments of the video, and as usual, the comments never fail to crack us up. Among the many troll comments like “Malaysia is still 171st on the World FIFA ranks, nobody cares”, there’s this one comment that stood out.
