Malls, malls. You’ve seen one of them, and you think the rest are replicas. But is that really true? Well, yes and no.

The concept of a mall is pretty much the same, but each one is also unique in its own way. If you’re bored by the thought of another trip to KSL or JB City Square the next time you cross the Causeway, you’re in for a ride.

Why? Well, I’m about to share my top 5 alternatives to shopping malls in JB with you.

This honey bun is right next to JB City Square, and just opened up recently. There’s an Angry Birds Activity Park right in its vicinity.

When you’re all tired out, you could dine at Dragon-I, Tony Roma’s or Pizza Hut. Grab your make up tools from the ground floor before you head on out of the place.

It’s slightly less busy than its neighbor as a mall, which is perfect for me.

Johor Premium Outlets

This is the go-to place in Johor at the moment if you want premium goods at knockout prices. You’d get brands like Coach, Gucci, Prada and Burberry at a steal here. There’s a relatively decent food court that serves local food and drinks if you’d like to rest your feet and take a bite.

AEON Tebrau

This is another notable mall in JB. It’s gigantic and you’d find more popular brands here. The G2000, Giordano, Esprit and MNG types.

Food’s a variety – You’d be able to get Malaysian, Japanese, Macau, Italian and even American food under this sole roof. There’s TGV cinemas plus Jusco for your shopping needs. And you’d get to browse for books at Harris’.

All-in-all it’s good value for money, especially if you’re travelling with a bunch of friends or as a family,

Sutera Mall

Another large mall which is a bit out of the way from JB Central (around 30 mins without traffic), but a good spot to check out.

The place has a vegetarian tea house which is pretty famous among the locals. If you like to read, visit My Library.

AEON Bukit Indah

This place is about 20 minutes away from JB Central. You could take the CW3 bus from Jurong East or CW6 from Boon Lay to get here.

It’s swarmed with food outlets like Taang Shifu, Sizzling Stonegrill and Nando’s. You won’t find big brands here, but you could shop around for books at Popular, or check out Toys R Us for presents for your kids. There’s a TGV cinema outlet here too!
