If you’re confused over the “new” KTM train that goes from Singapore to JB, and from JB to Singapore, fret not: many of us are as well, and here’s a concise guide for you.
Since last year July, there’s a new shuttle train from Singapore to JB. Operating from the Woodlands Train Checkpoint, it is known as Shuttle Tebrau. The idea was then to ease the congestion during peak hours, primarily for Malaysians working or studying in Singapore, so the 14 trips it makes daily are only during the morning and evening.
Commuters would go to Woodlands Train Checkpoint, which is connected to the Woodlands Checkpoint, to board the train. The trip is at RM5 from JB to Woodlands, and SGD$5 from Woodlands to JB. While it is relatively more expensive, the journey itself is only five minutes, compared to the unpredictable journey by bus or car that can potentially take hours.
So, what’s the “news”? Well, Shuttle Tebrau has increased its trips from 14 daily to 22 daily.
Instead of just catering to people working or studying in Singapore, it now also caters to people going to JB or Singapore for leisure purposes. While there are still more trips scheduled during peaks hours, there are now trips in the afternoon and night as well, so that people can commute via train even during off-peak hours!
Here’re the revised timetable
