When we say JB, either City Square or Legoland would come to our mind, simply because we Singaporeans seem to visit these two places most often. After all, City Square is just next to the Causeway, and Legoland is a tourists’ attraction in JB (if Singaporeans are considered tourists, that is).
But beyond these two places, there’re even more exciting places to visit. If you’re not driving, fret not: simply go down to the taxi counter that’s next to the bus interchange or book an Uber there. With 3 is to 1, the fare is still relatively low!
Firefly Valley Leisure Park
How often do you come across fireflies in Singapore? Not often in Singapore—in fact, not even often in Malaysia. But over here, you get to see fireflies on trees, and while they might just look like flickering lights…isn’t that just romantic enough!?
Address: Jalan Kota Tinggi, 81900 Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia
Sanrio Hello Kitty Town
Tell me: which girls don’t like Hello Kitty? If going to Japan is too much of a hassle, there’s always Hello Kitty in JB! It’s relatively new so it might be a little crowded, but hey: what’s Hello Kitty without the Hello Kitty fans?
Address: Persiaran Puteri Selatan, 79100 Nusajaya, Johor, Malaysia
KSL Resort
We’ve written a long piece of article about this hidden gem that is no longer that hidden after our article got viral. Just for your info, the Dinosaur Alive Water Theme Park might still be under renovation as you read this, so just focus on the mall and the biggggg studio room instead!
Address: 32, Jalan Seladang, Taman Abad, 80250 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Zoo Johor
Yeah, yeah, Mandai Zoo isn’t too far from JB, but what’s the deal with visiting more zoos? All animals are the same, but all experiences are different!
Address: Jalan Gertak Merah, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Taman Sentosa
People who drive would know about this place: known also as the Chinatown of JB, it’s a lively place with many shops, good food and pubs. It’s buzzing with activities 24 hours a day, so if you want to, you don’t even need to book a hotel there!
Address: Taman Sentosa is at Taman Sentosa lah!
Permas Go Kart
While there’s also a Go Kart in Singapore, it’s a different experience in JB simply because it’s bigger: with a track that’s over 1.4 km, it’s going to be a different experience at every turn.
Address: Jalan Bunga Matahari, Taman Plentong Baru, 81750 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Angry Birds Activity Park
Hello Kitty isn’t for your kids? How about Angry Birds then? Understandably that you won’t feel the “kick” unless you’re an Angry Birds fan, this park will still bring a big smile to your kids!
Address: GF-01, Galleria @ Kotaraya, Jalan Trus, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Holiday Plaza Mall
It’s the Sim Lim Square of JB, minus Jover Chew. Well, actually, Jover Chew is everywhere, so if you can avoid being Chew-ed there, you’ll get some good gadgets at a good price!
Address: Jalan Dato Sulaiman, Taman Century, 80250 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
